The objective of the Programme

The overall objective of the SFP programme is to facilitate the access of ACP/OCT fishery products to the global market, and in particular to the EU, by developing these countries' capacity to subject exports to suitable health controls and by improving production conditions in the beneficiary countries.

• The specific objectives of the programme are:to improve sanitary conditions and control capacity for fishery products;
• the strengthening of the existing testing laboratories and technical institutes;
• to improve the level of fishery industry (vessels and processing units) compliance with health conditions for export;
• to improve handling practices and infrastructure for small-scale fisheries
  

The expected results of the Programme

The four main results expected of the Programme are:

• National health conditions and control capacity [1] for fishery products improved;
